LRKR Daily - Mon Oct 28, 2019 (Blueprint Coffee)

I’ve moved homes and studios, (and home-studios) almost every year over the last ten years. Now I’m back in my hometown of Saint Louis for the next year. I arrived on October 11th and immediately started searching for a place to live and set up my studio. I looked for places in Tower Grove South, Tower Grove East, Soulard, Shaw, Botanical Heights, Downtown, and Downtown West. Each of these areas has a lot to offer, but my most important criteria were space and the ability to make noise without any issues. I ended up finding a great artist loft called Leather Trades, which has a lot of great amenities for artists, and it’s located Downtown. If everything goes well, I should be moving in on November 5th.

During this search, I’ve spent my time trying to get into a routine. In Brooklyn, I’d wake up, go to the coffee shop, and drive to my studio where I spent my day producing music until 6pm. Not having that space yet in Saint Louis has created a lot of anxiety for me, since I’m unable to work on my productions. I’ve attempted to create a routine by patronizing coffee shops in the Delmar Loop regularly, and eating out at different restaurants. I’ve enjoyed eating out at Mission Taco, Seoul Taco, and Nudo House, though I have to admit to eating at Imo’s more than I’d like to.

As part of my routine-building, I’m going to write a blog post every day. The posts might not be interesting at first, but in time I hope to offer ideas for self-employed individuals to stay active in the digital space. Until tomorrow…
